KYDS 91.5 FM has been serving El Camino Fundamental High School since 1978. From its inauspicious beginnings as a 10 watt microstation, it has grown to blast its programming through a 414 watt transmitter across the Sacramento County area, 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year long.
KYDS is most proud of its diverse program. Its eclectic mix of music and programming has earned it a devoted listener base. DJ's enter KYDS knowing that they can play their preferred music selections with the confident expectation that fans are listening.
Licensed by the FCC as a non-commercial, educational station, KYDS 91.5 FM Sacramento is the only high school in the area currently broadcasting. An additional benefit to its listeners is the fact that our programming is uninterrupted by commercials.
Dependent solely on a portion of a California Partnership Academy Grant and listener contributions, KYDS 91.5 FM is unfunded.
KYDS 91.5 FM conducts two major fundraising drives per school year. Known as the Audiothon, students participate in a marathon 45-hour broadcast, putting auction items up for bid to contributing listeners and happily accepting all other donations to keep the station equipment up and running. The next Audiothon will occur from 3 PM on Friday, 4 April through Noon on Sunday, 6 April 2008.
